  • Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning

    This meets the FCA's qualification requirements for retail investment advisers and helps candidates to develop core technical knowledge and financial planning capabilities.

  • Certificate in Mortgage Advice

    The Level 3 Certificate in Mortgage Advice meets the FCA’s qualification requirements for mortgage advisers. It develops an understanding of the sector and the mortgage process, enabling advisers to meet individual client needs.

  • R01 (Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics)

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, including regulation, legislation and the Code of Ethics.

  • R02 (Investment Principles)

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of investment products and the application of the investment advice process.

  • R03 (Personal Taxation)

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the UK taxation system, and the ability to analyse the taxation treatment of individuals and trusts during the investment advice process.

  • R04 (Pensions and Retirement Planning)

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of and ability to analyse pension and retirement planning issues.

  • R05 (Financial Protection)

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of and ability to analyse financial protection planning issues.

  • R06 (Financial Planning Practice)

    This qualification helps advisers develop and demonstrate their financial planning capabilities.

The professional side of things

After serving in the Royal Marines, a career that gave Carl many transferable skills and embedded good values, he found financial planning to be a natural next step.

Carl enjoys working with families and business owners who want to plan their finances for the future. With a personal understanding of the unique challenges military life brings, Carl especially enjoys supporting military families, drawing on his own experiences to guide them through the stresses and complexities of financial planning.

Away from the office

Carl has a keen interest in geopolitics, investing, and travelling, and he’s an avid fan of Formula 1 motor racing. In his spare time, he enjoys clay shooting, playing golf and going for runs.

What are the three things that you love the most about your job?

  • Helping people discover and realise what they want
  • Every situation is different; no two days are the same
  • There is always something new to learn.

What has been your career highlight so far?

Making the successful transition from the Royal Marines to financial planner.

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

My favourite holiday destination is the Greek islands. Great food, great people, and great places to see.

What is your favourite song to play in the car?

‘All Right Now’ by Free.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you win a gold medal in?
