Getting to Know – Michelle Boakes

We welcomed Michelle to the team here at Butler Toll in April 2026 as a Chartered Financial Planner

Michelle has worked in financial services since leaving school. She began her advice career as a mortgage adviser before becoming an independent financial adviser (IFA) in 2018. Michelle has previously worked for Financial Planning Firms in Wiltshire and most recently ran her own practice.

Whilst working with her clients Michelle has continued to develop the financial planning knowledge and broader expertise to support them. In doing this Michelle has qualified as a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, an advanced qualification that means she is also recognised as Chartered Financial Planner.

With Specialist qualifications in Later Life Planning and a Certificate in Trusts and Estate Planning Michelle is well placed to support clients in realising their life and financial planning goals

We asked Michelle to tell us a little but more about herself

What’s your role at Butler Toll ?

Chartered Financial Planner – I love helping people make clear, informed decisions about their financial future.

What the three draw to you to new people

  1. Warmth
  2. Authenticity
  3. Humour

Tell us about your family

I now have a blended family of 4 sons and 2 daughters and one granddaughter, it’s a hectic household but I love it that way – I have never lived alone.

You spent a lot of your childhood aboard was it fun?

My dad was in the RAF and I was born in Germany, I only lived in the UK for around 5 years of my childhood and our last posting was Cyprus, I lived there from age 14 to 17 and had the best time.

Any unusual hobbies?

My weirdest one is my secret love of American wrestling, I love WWE – I used to watch it with my grandad when I was little and I have introduced my family to it. We have been to see it live and regularly sit around as a family to watch pay per views!
